Social responsibility

“We shall not finally defeat AIDS, tuberculosis, malaria, or any of the other infectious diseases that plague the developing world until we have also won the battle for safe drinking water, sanitation and basic health care.”

Kofi Annan, former United Nations Secretary-General

global corporate project

Water is a precious resource. Pentair has understood this challenge and, since 2007, has implemented several life-saving solutions through its SAFEWATER PROJECT.

regional EMEA initiative

Motivated by this example, Pentair EMEA has started, in 2013, a 3-year collaboration plan with MORIJA, an international cooperation organization based in Switzerland and France, which manages development projects in Africa.

Pentair actions with Morija are focused around their WASH (WAter Sanitation Hygiene) program. More concretely, thanks to already several actions deployed, we have been able to equip 5 villages with a well, latrines and fund courses that enhance the awareness of basic hygiene practices, impacting an estimated 2’000 people.

In February 2013 we have obtained a cheque of 10’000 dollars from the Pentair Foundation for the improvement of sanitation in the village of Pomoano in Burkina Faso.

JUNE 2013

The second project consisted in an event, combining the benefits of a fund raising and a team-building activity: the Decathlon Classic bike ride, which took place on Saturday, June 29th in Leuven, Belgium. On that occasion, Pentair employees, together with customers and association members cycled in order to raise money for a noble cause. This project allowed to raise more than 15’000 dollars to equip 2 more villages.

In December 2013 we hold another ceremony with Morija where we handed over a cheque of 20’000 dollars. This amount was raised amongst the staff from the offices in Lausanne, Switzerland thanks to personal initiatives: a lottery, a book sale and a 0.5% donation on December’s salary. On top of that, the Pentair Foundation not only matched those contributions but decided to further invest in this partnership by rounding the amount to 20’000 dollars.

On that occasion we were also pleased to receive this painting, a gift from villagers we helped with Morija in Africa.

In April 2014, a team of runners from Pentair joined “20km of Lausanne”, a race happening yearly on the Leman lake shores, in Switzerland, to run 10 or 20 kilometers. This event allowed to collect 2'500 € for Morija.

On top of that, in May 2014, a team of Pentair bikers met in Grobendonk (BE) to participate to the “Herman Van Springel Classic” bike ride. The team gathered once again people from Pentair, but also customers that responded heartily to the call. The whole group rode courageously 1'500 km in total, collecting 500€.
